Since my husband’s a soybean farmer (and China decided they’re over buying soybeans 🙄), I figured it might be smart to start looking for something new to grow. You know—just in case the farm needs a little side hustle.
So I went down the rabbit hole of “easy-to-grow, low-cost, high-reward” crops for our climate, and guess what popped up? Garlic. 🧄
Specifically, the Music variety—apparently the Beyoncé of garlic. It’s super popular, hardy, and can be planted this fall to grow through next summer. If all goes well, I’ll be harvesting bulbs of my own next year and maybe even selling them at local farmers markets.
Total investment so far? About $20.
Potential? Endless (okay, maybe not soybean-field endless, but hey—a farmer’s wife has gotta start somewhere).
Who knows—maybe this little garlic experiment will be the start of something big. Or at least something delicious. 😏
Wish me luck. I’ll keep you posted!
